ARKETIPO
Artificial Intelligence for the Early Diagnosis of Heart Failure through the Joint Analysis of Epigenetic and Clinical Markers.
AI systems for the early diagnosis of heart failure in diabetic and dialysis patients, combining personalised-medicine approaches through innovative epigenetic and clinical biomarkers.
The project
The ARKETIPO project is a Research and Development project consistent with the National Smart Specialisation Strategy (SNSI), which promotes the development of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions solutions aimed at improving the quality of care and the quality of life of diabetic and dialysis patients, contributing to the development of innovative value-based healthcare models in the Digital Health sector.
Heart failure is a chronic and progressive disease with a high clinical, social and economic impact, characterised by high rates of mortality, morbidity and hospitalisation, especially in the patients with diabetes and chronic kidney disease. Therefore, the early identification of patients at increased risk, even in the initial and asymptomatic stages of the disease, makes it possible to intervene promptly with personalised therapeutic strategies slowing disease progression and the healthcare burden on the National Health Service.
The project integrates clinical, epigenetic and digital biomarkers with data collected through digital health and remote-monitoring technologies. Through Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques, ARKETIPO aims to develop predictive models for cardiovascular risk stratification and innovative tools for clinical support and tele-monitoring.
Results
The expected results include validation of novel prognostic biomarkers, the improvement of the early detection of heart failure and the development of innovative digital-health and predictive medicine solutions, with potential benefits in terms of the reduction of cardiovascular complications, hospitalisations and healthcare burden on the National Health Service.
