The project

SAGE-It (Smart Aging and New Health Technologies for Italy) is a Research and Development project aimed at strengthening the innovation ecosystem for active and healthy ageing in Italy's less-developed regions.
The project adopts an integrated approach structured in three complementary components: SAGE-Rise, focused on the testing and validation of innovative technologies; SAGE-Connect, focused on the development of regional ecosystems and collaborative networks; and SAGE-Skills, oriented towards strengthening professional skills. Through interdisciplinary pilots conduced in real-world settings, regional living labs and specialised training programmes, the project aims to foster technology transfer and the adoption of innovative solutions to improve the care, well-being and quality of life of older people.

Results

SAGE-It is expected to establish the creation of an integrated ecosystem for the experimentation, validation and deployment and dissemination of innovative solutions dedicated to active ageing. The expected results include the development of regional living labs, the creation of collaborative networks among universities, research centres, healthcare facilities and companies, and the validation of advanced technologies in real-world care settings. The project also envisages the consolidation of innovative tools such as tele-monitoring systems, Data-driven digital health technologies, care-support devices and clinical decision-support solutions. Further expected outcomes include enhanced workforce skills through dedicated training programmes, the increase of technology transfer and the promotion of innovative models to improve quality of life, social inclusion and the sustainability of care and healthcare systems.
